Image of Scilla verna

Here is a flower! The Scilla verna is commonly known as spring squill. As it is a small plant, usually only reaching 5-15 centimetres in height it was great to bring on the amazing Canon 180mm f/3.5 Macro lens and get really close to the beautiful blue flowers.

I really like how the flower is reaching up through the grass to show how beautiful it really is. I love to do macro photography but I often neglect it in favour to landscape and seascape photography so it was nice to have a bit of time crawling on the knees and looking at flowers. It’s often important to get down low when you shoot flowers to really get close on the flowers and get a good perspective.
