Hidden in the middle of the Lake District National Park the lake Buttermere is a true beauty. The lake is right next to the town Buttermere with many beautiful walks.

Buttermere

I like to take the easy walk circling the Buttermere lake – it’s pretty easy and let you explore the shore of the lake with you camera. The trail have some very nice woodland with larch trees but also some magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.

Beside the area around Wast Water and Scafell Pike this is really one of my favourites. You are also able to find a some good spots for wild camping especially if you arrive out of season, which I really recommend. The early spring is great and so are the late autumn. At spring time the trees are impressively green contrasting the red and yellow in fall.

I love this image because if give a sense of quietness and really show how green this place can be. The photograph was captured with the Canon 5D Mark II and the 24-105mm f/4L handheld on a rainy day in April.

Enjoy
